I met Stefan along the way, the guy David and I had lunch with at the Caye. He talked most of the time, I listened. He knows a lot, with a background in international law and economics, I was simply absorbed.Only when I reached Chetumal did I realise that my Mexican mobile already has expired credits. Fortunately the guard and another guy were kind enough to lend me their phones. I couldn’t reach my host. Called the other guy in couchsurfing who offered to host me but won’t be able to meet me till 8PM. I don’t know anything about Chetumal, I have no internet connection, and there’s nothing at the docks to buy phone credits. So I took a cab for M$50 and decided to just head off to Tulum.
Bumped again into Stefan and we continued chatting over lunch. He’s headed for Valladolid. The Weary Traveler. At Tulum, I didn’t even know where to stay. So, I just walked around from the bus station and ended up at the Weary Traveler Hostel. It looked nice with a good vibe, so I settled to stay, M$150 for a dorm bed, all girls. At least I won’t be feeling lonely.
I met Heike from Germany and Liana from New York (and Dominican Republic). Also met a 69-yr old wise man, David, who had shared very esoteric stuff about life.
