Paris Unexpected!
Two Nights, Two Days in Pairs
I only had two days in Paris. For two days, I couldn’t help having to tick the boxes.
First night, I managed to squeeze in seeing the Notre Dame, Eiffel Tower, Latin Quarter and having a traditional three-course french dinner.
Second day, I covered Rue Montmarte, Rue Montorgueil, Louvre, Basilica de Sacre-Couere and Montmarte at sunset, Moulin Rouge and quick look at Arc de Triomph at night.
A couple of locals advised me: spend the time away from tourist traps and instead chill out, watch the world go by and be a Parisian local. They recommended I go to Rue Montorgueil and Rue Montmarte. The latter was lined with designer boutiques which didn’t do much for me, but had a yuppy vibe with the cafes around the area. The former is a food safari haven!
I found the the recommended best croissant in Paris by that fellow French traveller I met in Iceland. Boulangerie Patisserie at Rue Montorgueil had a melt-in-your mouth chocolate croissant.
What I didn’t expect and wasn’t prepared for
- Hordes of tourists everywhere! And I mean everywhere!
- Grittiness of the place — the undeground rail probably the dirtiest I’ve seen yet, held my breath at some point with the stink of piss and vomit.
- Getting hit on by men so candidly – French men were something else. In a space of two hours, got hit on four times in four different interesting ways, from the savvy to the inexperienced. Flattering, just didn’t do it for me.
