Rio Dulce Guatemala, Guatemala When I woke up this morning in Semuc, I wished I booked for another night. It’s just so beautiful waking up to the sound of birds, gurgling river and the view of the misty mountains with El Portal wedged in between. What peace! I had breakfast at 6:30AM with Hina. The pick-up was on time at 7AM whichh took us back to Lanquin. From there Hina and I parted, she’s headed to Flores, I’m headed to Rio Dulce. Arrived around 1:30PM at Rio Dulce. Dropped off at Hotel backpackers, but decided to switch to El Tortugal. Their lancha picked me up, thanks to the kind receptionist at Hotel Backpackers for calling the hotel. It was a good choice: El Tortugal sits on an islet. For Q100 a night, I got a “dorm” room in a cabin, with nobody else around. The whole place looks like a resort, not a hostel.
